Summer Art Camps

Our camps are special. We offer a week-long art-making, friend making and merriment making experience for children grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. From glass fusion to drawing, you’ll be sure to find a camp that inspires your child.

Camps run Monday – Friday. We offer 9:00am – noon and 1:00pm – 4:00pm sessions. All camps are held at Cottell Park and Kings Mills Elementary.

What better way for your child to be celebrated, embraced and nurtured. Thank you in advance for sharing your child with us!

Glass Art and Color Exploration

June 11 – June 15

9:00am – noon

Grades 3 – 8

This camp will explore the many ways to create art glass. Techniques that will be taught will include: glass cutting, fusing, enameling, and mosaic. Campers will also use other mediums to aid in the design of their projects and to develop confidence in use of color and designs.

Songwriting Camp

June 18 – June 22

Have a song in your heart? Campers will explore the expressive world of songwriting with singer, performer Serenity Fisher. Campers will learn the process of songwriting, write their own songs and much more! We will explore creative expression through fun writing games and prompts, piano and guitar tutorials, vocal coaching, and group collaboration.  You will learn how to craft song lyrics and set music to your words.  The week long experience will culminate in a performance on the last day of camp.  Learn how songwriters like Taylor Swift and Adele do what they do!

Cartooning: Minecraft, Mango, and More!

June 25 – 29

Is your camper obsessed with popular games, YouTube and cartoons such as Minecraft, Pokémon, anything Disney or Manga style of drawing? This camp is for them. This week campers will create projects based on these pop culture icons as well as learn various cartoon drawing techniques and make 3D clay models. Original cartoon designs will also be encouraged and foster as their confidence grows.

Fiber Arts Sampler: Tapestry Weaving and Wet Felting

June 25 – June 29

Grades 3 – 8

Instructor: Therese Holt

Location: Kings Mills Elementary

Learn how to make your own fiber art using  natural fibers using the “wet felting” process. Enhance your art using basic embroidery stitches, embellish using beads, or other found objects, and explore the fiber art world of weaving tapestry.

Playwriting Camp

July 9 – July 13

Instructor: Serenity Fisher

Location: Kings Mills Elementary

The play’s the thing! Write, produce, and star in your own play! Throughout the week, campers will create their own characters and story lines, play spontaneous improve games, and co-create music. The final day culminates in a performance showcasing each child’s contribution to the whole – whether on stage, behind the scenes, or both! Facilitated by playwright and songwriter Serenity Fisher, three-time award winner of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival Audience Pick Award.

Crochet, Sew, Stitch, and Yarn

July 9 – July 13

Campers will explore all of the wonderful ways that yarn, felt, string and more can be used to create glorious art projects. Students will paint, sculpt, weave, felt! They will learn to crochet, make a scarf and even “YarnBomb” a vase! Not to mention Pom Pom Flowers and Hula Hoop Weaving with old t-shirts. Just to name a few. Campers will explore crocheting, sewing, using a sewing machine, weaving, and more. Expand your repertoire and learn the value of working with your hands as make pillows, stuffed animals, dream catchers, and anything else you can imagine.

Restaurant Camp

July 9 – 13

What can you make with a cardboard box? How about creating a kid-size restaurant from the ground up! Campers will decide what business suits them, whether it be a pizzeria, a coffee shot, a bakery! This young entrepreneurial experience will challenge campers to create their own business name, logo, menus, and more! This camp give campers the opportunity to live their dreams, develop planning skills, and more!

Narrative Art Quilt Camp

July 9 – July 13

Narrative Art Quilt Camp! What is your favorite thing to do? For example, reading books, playing sports, horseback riding, writing, stories or poems, visiting with family, camping, etc.? This will be represented in your quilt panel, through a variety of fabrics, embellishing with personal items along with beading and basic embroidery. The narrative part of the quilt will be applied to the quilt panel using band stitching, writing directly on the fabric or lettered beads, that speak of personal experiences that represent your art panel. A favorite work or words, a poem, saying, a memory….come on this journey! The end product will astound you!

Fairy Camp

 Fairytastic Fairy Camp! Calling all Fairies, Good-Fellows, Pixies, and Sprites! Fairy Camp is a beautiful week of art exploration. Daily project include all things Fairy – including Fairy wands, gardens, and much more! Dress up is highly encouraged. Fairy fans will enjoy the Fairy Parade the last day of camp!

Painting and Drawing

Love to Paint and Draw? This is the camp for you! Campers will explore color theory, mixing colors, enjoy their own sketch book, paint on canvases and other surfaces, and explore all aspects of  drawing and painting to create the most amazing finished projects.

Location: Arts Bungalow

The Arts Alliance welcomes Melodic Connections for this camps where campers will create movie sound effects with just a slinky! Turn a spoon into a gong! Singing balloons anyone?! Experiment with us as we explore the world of sound. From vibrations to sound waves, music is science, and we can’t wait to explore it with you!
