Summer Art Camps

Our camps are special. We offer a week-long art-making, friend making and merriment making experience for children grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. From glass fusion to drawing, you’ll be sure to find a camp that inspires your child.

Camps run Monday – Friday. We offer 9:00am – noon and 1:00pm – 4:00pm sessions. All camps are held at Cottell Park and Kings Mills Elementary.

Fairy Camp

June 12 – June 16

Calling all Fairies, Good-Fellows, Pixies and Sprites! Fairy Camp is back! Daily art projects include creating ALL things Fairy – wands, garden and much more! Fun artsy fun, reading and play. Dress up is highly encouraged. Art show and Fairy parade on June 16th.

Songwriting Camp

June 19 – June 23

Instructor: Serenity Fisher

Location: Cottell Park – Arts Bungalow

Have a song in your heart? Campers will explore the expressive world of songwriting with singer, performer Serenity Fisher. Campers will learn the process of songwriting, write their own songs and much more! We will explore creative expression through fun writing games and prompts, piano and guitar tutorials, vocal coaching, and group collaboration.  You will learn how to craft song lyrics and set music to your words.  The week long experience will culminate in a performance on the last day of camp.  Learn how songwriters like Taylor Swift and Adele do what they do!

Painting and Drawing

June 26 – 30

This camp is perfect for those who love art and want to learn more about drawing and painting. Campers will focus on learning basic fundamentals and refining drawing skills. Campers will learn to look at the world around them in shapes and values and record through drawings. Campers will love exploring painting techniques and learning new skills.

Paper Menagerie

June 26 – June 30

Grades 3 – 6

Instructor: Jessica Wolf

Location: Kings Mills Elementary

Let your imagination go wild! Together we’ll be creating an entire menagerie of paper animals! Several different papercrafting techniques will be used to craft our own paper zoo. Art techniques include origami, 3-d sculpting, quilling, and more. Learn how paper is the perfect medium for creating just about anything you can imagine.

Camp Carnegie: The Hero in Us All

June 26 – June 30

9:00am – noon

Grades 1 – 8

Location: Kings Mills Elementary

Follow a hero’s journey, as they struggle to triumph over their fear. This summer, students will examine what it takes to be courageous, as they develop characters, devise plot lines, and share their stories of bravery live on the Otto M. Budig Theatre stage. Camp Carnegie includes performance, hands-on art making, character and costume design, dramatic exercises, writing, brainstorming, team building, problem solving and a great deal of fun.  Join the cast for their final performance on Saturday, July 1. Time TBA.

Fiber Crafts

July 3 – 7

Campers will explore all of the wonderful ways that yarn, felt, string and more can be used to create glorious art projects. Students will paint, sculpt, weave, felt! They will learn to crochet, make a scarf and even “YarnBomb” a vase! Not to mention Pom Pom Flowers and Hula Hoop Weaving with old t-shirts. Just to name a few. Yes, we will have camp on July 4th.

July 10 – 14

Cartooning Camp

This week is all about turning doodles and ideas into Cartooning! Campers will explore cartooning and its many different forms. Character and lettering design, storytelling and cartoon strips, and 3-D character figures will be created! If you like drawing, cartooning and telling stories, this camp is for you.

Paper Garden

July 24 – July 28

Let’s plant a paper garden! Using several different paper crafting techniques, students will crafts a variety of plants, flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Art techniques include origami, 3-d sculpting, quilling, and more. Students will get to explore the versatility and endless possibilities of paper while getting connected to nature!

Art-Filled Expression

Delve into art this summer inspired by contemporary art techniques. Each day, students will learn about different aspects of the visual arts through interactive projects, art making activities, and more. Participants will explore their creativity through painting, printmaking, collage, drawing, photography, sculpture and mixed media based classes.  The camp will help to enhance imagination, creativity, and discipline, problem solving skills, cultural and historical awareness, art appreciation and more.
